Why 2035?
The 2021 Climate Targets Panel Report states that to limit warming to 1.5 degrees in line with the Paris Climate Agreement, Australia needs to be net zero by 2035!

Why not 2050?
According to the scientific evidence, a net zero by 2050 target will not be enough to limit warming to 2 degrees, let alone 1.5!

Why 1.5°?
To avoid the impacts we would feel at 2 degrees such as...

99% decline in coral reefs

37% of the global population will be exposed to extreme heat every 1 in 5 years
-
16% of plants will lose half of their habitable area and more,
we need to limit warming to 1.5!
